Theaster Gates at the Walker Art Center

Artist Theaster Gates is taking over the Walker’s galleries for an immersive artistic experience. Originally trained in ceramics, Gates has expanded his practice to include performance, installation and archival conservation. He is best known for his 2009 project Dorchester Project in Chicago, which recycled a two-story property on the South Side, turning it into a performance space, library and archive. All ages. Autumn Art in Nature

Learn basic shapes, drawing and shading techniques inside, then bring your sketch notebook outdoors to capture autumn’s splendor. Bring your favorite sketchbook, drawing pencils, kneaded erasers or pastels. Dress for the weather and wear shoes suitable for hiking!  Lawn chairs recommended!

Rasaboxes: Directing Master Class

Curious about this contemporary directing technique? This class is geared toward experienced directors who would like to add new techniques to their tool kit.
