Frosty Woodbury Morning

A hoar frost and an unexpected visitor make for a special photo.

While getting ready to head out for a morning basketball tournament last winter, Kent Nye noticed the incredible hoar frost that had covered his backyard. Nye says, “I decided to shoot a few photos of that, and while shooting, the cardinal decided to make a stop in my crabapple tree which sits at the back end of my deck. What luck!”

A computer programmer for the state of Minnesota, Nye moved back to Woodbury in 2005, returning to the city 19 years after graduating from Woodbury High School. “I’ve been a lifelong photographer and really enjoy a variety of photo opportunities,” he says. “By far and away, most of my time has been spent photographing sporting events of my two children and all of their teammates. I have been the slide show guy for each of the year-end parties.”

Kent Nye’s photo placed second in the nature category of the Focus on Woodbury photo contest, sponsored by Woodbury Magazine.
