STORY:
When I moved to the Twin Cities in the early 1980s, there was a wonderful kitchen store/cooking school named Thrice in St. Paul. I loved the quality of items and the experience of employees who made great recommendations. That store eventually moved to 877 Grand Avenue and was renamed Cooks of Crocus Hill, offering an even wider selection of kitchenware and a larger cooking school; two more Cooks stores have opened since, in Edina and Stillwater.
Woodbury now has its own Cooks of Crocus Hill store (yippee!), located in Kowalski’s Market. “We are longstanding neighbors with Kowalski’s on Grand Avenue, and we love that they, like us, are locally owned,” says Marie Dwyer, who owns Cooks with her husband, Karl Benson. “We offer the best of our culinary items in Woodbury, with the expertise of a staff that’s available to demonstrate our products and the customer service found at all of our stores.”
As we enter into the holiday entertaining season, Dwyer offers these picks for cooks of all skill levels, from the novice to the highly experienced.
Pumpkin Casserole
It’s a pumpkin, it’s a cast iron covered casserole, it’s a French oven, it’s a great centerpiece on your fall holiday table. It’s all of these at the same time.  LeCreuset casserole in flame $180
Copper Roasting Pan
A beautiful kitchen staple, so beautiful you may not want to cook in it, sort of. From our favorite manufacturer of French cookware, Mauviel, 15.7” X 11.8” $270
All-Clad 3-Quart Saute with Lid
There are a few pieces of cookware every kitchen should not be without. This is one of them. Great for cooking for one to 10, this little saute pan is a workhorse. $99.99 promotion price (regular $225) while supplies last
Silicone Spatulas
These wood-handled spatulas come in all these fun colors; you’ll want one in every color and size. High-heat resistant and dishwasher safe. Love! $6.75-$7.75
Batter Tool
Every cook young and old will love to whip up the breakfast batter with this cool tool. Scrapes the bowl as it whips and blends batter. Orange, black or purple. $13.50
Fall Harvest Collections
These towel sets of 3, aprons, mitts and potholder sets of 2 are great fall collections to accent your kitchen décor and wardrobe. $12-$33
Kids Fall Sets
Perfect for the little bakers in your life. They’ll make a mess, stay clean (mostly) and look darn cute in the process. Set includes apron, mitt and kid-size chef hat. Wearable Kids sets $22-$25.50
Best Dish Cloths Ever
Be good to the earth and our counters to. These reusable, washing machine-safe dish cloths are like having a sponge, dish cloth and microfiber kitchen cleanup tool all in one. Wise Owls to Fox Fun prints from Sweden. $6.50 each
