Last August, Woodbury’s very first authentic taqueria opened up in the space formerly occupied by DeLeo Bros. Pizza at Tamarack Hills. Spanish for “100 tacos,” Cien Tacos takes its name from the plethora of meats, cheeses and other toppings that allow customers access to an array of choices for creating the tacos their taste buds call for. For example, customers are invited to try their famous taco plate which allows for three tacos with 11 different meat options; it’s served with a side of refried pinto beans and Mexican rice. Some of the meats found at Cien Tacos include those not easily located in suburban Minnesota, such as pastor, lengua and barbacoa. Others offered include guajillo-braised short ribs and spicy chorizo that’s made locally.

Cien Tacos also boasts a menu of drink items featuring various tequilas, margaritas and Mexican beer. In regards to the atmosphere, general manager Emmanuel Areizaga says, “You are family as soon as you walk through our doors; we welcome you to come in and see us and enjoy our energetic family.”
