Ashland Productions Celebrates Its 20th Season on Stage

Founded in 1997, Ashland Productions had dreams of starting out as a dinner theater. That quickly changed, as founder and artistic director Rob Sutherland, along with his co-founder, decided that they needed to take it down a different path. “Our sweet spot, what we were really good at doing, was working with kids,” Sutherland says.

Now, Ashland prides itself in setting up kids with the tools that will help them succeed and lead in life. “Our mission is to create great citizens through theater,” Sutherland says.

This process proves true through Woodbury resident Bob Roche, who has three children involved with Ashland and is on the board himself. The Roche family has been involved with Ashland for five years, and Roche has seen the positive impact it has had for his family. “They get a great experience and great musical theater,” Roche says. “The kids also get the opportunity for leadership positions during the Ashland summer camps.”

Ashland Production’s 20th season is bound to have some excitement in store. Returning to the Ashland stage and leading off the season is Annie. Newsies, James and the Giant Peach and Cats are set to make their Ashland debut. Make sure to keep an eye out for shows, dates and times.
