Hobbyist photographer and artist Loriene Pearson captured herself on a July foggy morning. She laid out clothesline with her husband to catch the woven beauty of her embroidery. Pearson avidly showcases indigenous embroidery she self-taught herself three years ago.
There is something uniquely thrilling about closing your eyes, jumping into a new venture and not knowing exactly what the landing is going to feel like. As children, it was what we longed for. But as adults, we often take safer routes. Perhaps, we have more to lose.

The eighth annual Bash for Brains was held on September 11, 2021, and raised over $110,000. The bash, first held in 2013, has the mission of raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s disease research and caregiver support; it first hosted 50 people and raised $7,000.
The Suicide Prevention Collaborative 5K took place on October 2, 2021, at Colby Lake Park. Nearly 200 runners and walkers took part in the annual event, which covers a 3.1-mile route.
“We recognize that Woodbury is one of the greatest places in the state to live, and part of the reason why it is so great is because of the people that work, volunteer and contribute to the community,” says Woodbury Chamber of Commerce president Laurie Staiger.
