Each month, we feature one of the photos from our 2018 Focus on Woodbury photo contest. This month, we asked photographer Chris Dummer to tell us about “Watchdog,” which took first place in our Pets category.
Where did you take the photo?
The photo was taken in Woodbury at my parents’ house. Our dog Ari was content on the living room ottoman.
What kind of camera did you use?
The photo was taken on a Panasonic G7 camera with a 45mm vintage lens off of an old film camera. The fun thing about new cameras is that you can adapt old lenses to them to get a unique look.
What’s your favorite thing about the image?
Dogs usually get excited when something new like a camera comes out, but Ari just lay there and continued to take in the world around her.
What’s your photography background?
My background in photography started at Woodbury High School, where I took my first photography class. I continued to take pictures and shoot video in college and now use a camera for a living. It’s safe to say my camera is always close by, usually only an arm’s length away.
Submit your photos in August to our 2019 Focus on Woodbury contest.
