The high school musical season has arrived in Woodbury.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid – East Ridge High School

Sebastian, Scuttle and Flounder will grace the Loft Stage with a production that is fun for theater-goers of all ages. “This musical is a re-billing of the 1989 Disney movie based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale about a mermaid who longs to live as a human,” says Amanda Hestwood, director. November 4-13; 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays. $10 adults, $7 students/seniors, save $1 with advanced purchase.

Into the Woods – New Life Academy

Stephen Sondheim’s music and lyrics take center stage in this musical that intertwines the plots of several popular fairy tales. “Into the Woods has an important message for emerging youth about how to deal with dreams and desires when they don’t turn out the way you imagined,”says Janette Bach, New Life Academy drama director. November 4-13; 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays. $15 adults, $10 students.

The Pajama Game – Woodbury High School

This American classic romance, based on Richard Bissel’s novel 7 1/2 Cents, is set at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, amidst a union protest. “This show has lots of characters and ensemble work,” says Marcie Berglund, director. “We plan on bringing the audience back to the early 1960s where life was to say the least very different from today . . . and then again very similar, too.” November 11-19; 7 p.m. Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodbury High School. $9 adults, $7 students and seniors.
