A new city park, Dale Woods Open Space, is being developed for the enjoyment of Woodbury residents. Located in the northeast corner of Woodbury on the west side of Manning Road, a half-mile south of I-94, the park is the result of a 2005 referendum authorizing the use of $6 million dollars to purchase land for open space in Woodbury.
“The vision for Dale Woods Open Space is as a natural setting emphasizing quiet recreation in a high quality environment,” says Mike Adams, assistant parks and recreation director for the city of Woodbury.
Great care has been taken to preserve trees. Park development includes restoration of a previously excavated wetland and native perennial vegetation; maintenance or improvement of the quality of oak forests; and reduction of invasive shrubs. Plans include playground equipment, a park shelter, and paved driveway/parking lot.
