The seasonal holiday store Holiday Bliss reopened this year at Woodbury Lakes, offering high quality Christmas décor, tree trimmings, holiday artwork, table accessories and workshops every Saturday for Tree Decorating 101. Co-owners Ryan Smith and Jeff Jones originally opened the custom decorating studio in 2011 and operated out of their home before opening up their first retail location last year.
Smith says he learned a lot from his experience operating the business on a larger scale, and looks forward to improvements this year. For this holiday season, expect to see more tabletop décor, tree trimmings, a greater variety of permanent Christmas trees and lighting options. Smith and Jones will also offer a free workshop every Saturday at 9 a.m. through the middle of December for tips and tricks on decorating a holiday tree. Those suggestions include:
Add Texture and Dimension
“I really try to encourage people to use ornaments and elements that are large, medium and small,” Smith says. “Different textures and sizes of elements will provide your tree with dimension.”
Use Flair
According to Smith, using floral and decorative picks—anything from artificial stems to poinsettias and berries—is the number one opportunity to set your tree apart and make it more of a designer tree.
Be Unique
“Think outside the box and don’t be afraid to use very different and new color combinations,” Smith says.
