Every year in August, communities around the U.S. gather for National Night Out, an evening of food, entertainment and conversation. National Night Out (also known as Night to Unite) began in 1984 as an initiative of the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) to promote neighborhood camaraderie and involvement in crime prevention organizations and activities.
