Honesty. Integrity. Sportsmanship. Respect. Confidence. Responsibility. Perseverance. Courtesy. Judgment. The First Tee, a national program brought to Eagle Valley Golf Course in 2012, focuses on these nine core values, all centered on the greens. Its goal is to impact the lives of young people ages 6 through 17 through the game of golf.
“The Rotary Club of Woodbury gave us $10,000 to get started; we raised additional funds with a golf tournament last summer and are planning an April 5 gala fundraiser,” says Robert O’Brien of Via Wealth Advisors in Woodbury. “With this money, we provide scholarships to kids that want to participate in The First Tee but cannot afford to do so.”
The First Tee also offers a school golf program. An additional investment has been made to buy Snag equipment and training for phy-ed teachers at Royal Oaks and Liberty Ridge elementary schools which will allow them to work The First Tee programs into their curriculum.
