Focus on Woodbury: Spring Blossoms

The story behind a young photographer’s beautiful image.

Hadley Burger has lived in Woodbury all of her life—all 11 years. The Liberty Ridge Elementary School fifth grader loves taking pictures of nature, and this photo is an excellent example of her talent. “This tree was blooming in my front yard last spring, and I thought it was so beautiful,” Burger says. “I thought it would be cool to see this tree from a different angle.”

Burger, whose favorite subject in school is math, loves to play volleyball and spend time with her family and friends. “This summer, I’m really looking forward to playing at nationals for volleyball; this year it’s being held in Minneapolis,” she says. “I’m also excited to take more nature pictures this spring and summer.”

Burger’s older sister, who also does photography, has helped her with this new interest. “I started taking artsy pictures about a year ago, and I used an iPad for this one,” she says. “I was really excited that my photo was chosen, and it has inspired me to take more and even better photos.”

This photo is sure to inspire others in Woodbury to look for the beauty in our city this spring. It’s not too early to start taking photos to enter the 2017 Focus on Woodbury Photo Contest.
