Gigi’s Cupcakes is a national franchise known for its gourmet cupcakes and hefty doses of frosting. With more than 100 locations in the United States, Gigi’s recently opened a store in the new Village Green area of Woodbury Village.
Krista Kook and her husband, Jesse, are co-owners of Gigi’s Cupcakes in Woodbury. Interested in embarking on a business journey together, they knew they wanted to start a franchise and after looking at a number of options, they fell in love with Gigi’s. “We just loved the story behind the business…and who doesn’t love cupcakes?” Krista says.
The first Gigi’s opened in Nashville in 2008, with treasured family recipes of founder Gigi Butler. Butler took the leap to open her business after a decade of pursuing a music career. The business took off quickly, and then made the move to launch franchises; it continues to expand across the country.
Woodbury was the perfect location for the Kooks’ new venture. “It’s a welcoming community as well as a growing community,” Krista says. Gigi’s, offering baked-fresh-daily cupcakes decorated by hand, serves a wide variety of customers, from brides-to-be to corporate clients.
With a successful run thus far, the Kooks hope to open more franchise locations in Minnesota.
