Holistic Approach Helps Kids Who Struggle with Behavioral Issues

While working in the Woodbury community for years in private practice and in the school system as a licensed marriage and family therapist, Sheila Dwyer found that most children with academic, social and behavioral struggles were offered only one type of treatment: prescription medication. As the owner and center director of Brain Balance in Woodbury, she offers a holistic program that focuses on the whole child and supports healthy development. “Rather than focusing on the symptoms of the issue, Brain Balance Achievement Centers focus on the root of the problem,” says Sheila. She says the program is often referred to as a kid-friendly “boot camp for the brain” that addresses different regions of the brain.
