Le Dîner en Blanc: An Elegant French Dinner to Save the Miller Barn

Wodbury Heritage Society hosts its second annual fancy fundraiser.

As part of its efforts to preserve the historic Miller Barn, one of the last tactile vestiges of Woodbury’s farming history, the Woodbury Heritage Society’s Save the Miller Barn committee hosts its second annual dîner en blanc, (that’s “dinner in white” if you haven’t brushed up on your high-school French in a while) this month.

Le Diner en Blanc

The event is an elegant French picnic on the lawn at Valley Creek Park, and funds go toward the preservation of the barn. Attendees are encouraged to dress all in white—including any fancy hats you might have for just such an occasion—and the tent, decorations, lights, tables and chairs at the picnic are all in white, creating a luxurious, European-summer ambiance. Last year’s picnic was a smashing success, and the committee hopes for a high turnout again this month. Bon appetit!
