Soccer is a very popular youth sport in Woodbury, with hundreds of kids participating on fields throughout our city. This photo of 7-year-old Aleyna Woelfel captures the joy many kids experience playing sports.
“We were a bit early for soccer this day at the spring rec soccer fields outside Valley Crossing Elementary School,” says Aleyna’s mother, McKinzie Woelfel. “We have four kids ranging in age from 1 to 9 and I was trying to keep them entertained!”
The Woelfel family has lived in Woodbury for one year and are enjoying their new city. “Woodbury is a great city for our big active family,” says McKinzie, an infectious disease planning coordinator at the Minnesota Department of Health. “We have some of the top-rated schools in the state, great parks and path systems. Community education, extracurricular and sports programming are stellar. The close proximity to St. Paul provides a short work commute and makes visiting some of our favorite museums very easy.”
