For the past several years, the Monster Mash and Soiree Spooktakular have been Halloween trademarks for the community. This season, however, the Woodbury Community Foundation is replacing the annual Soiree Spooktakular with a new fundraising gala, called Woodbury Makes a Deal, on Nov. 1 at the Prom Center at 6:30 p.m. The new event steers away from Halloween activities and takes on a game show theme; scary costumes will be replaced with cheerful ones. Adults will have the opportunity to bid on secret prizes, and as usual, dinner and dancing are also included. woodburycommunityfoundation.orgFor kids, the Monster Mash will still be a place for friendly costumes and games, in addition to live music and dancing. This family event is sponsored by the ECFE/School Readiness Parent Advisory Council and takes place on Oct. 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Woodbury High School. cecool.com
