Back in 1980, a Woodbury high school teacher named Joan Leedahl partnered with the city of Woodbury as part of a classroom project. Together, she and her students created scripts, props and fun shows that would become Woodbury’s popular Puppet Wagon that still exists today.
Puppet Wagon shows last about 15 minutes total, including playtime with the puppets afterwards. The performances take place at various parks across the city, Mondays through Thursdays, and involve music, silly songs and some sort of special effects, such as bubbles or flashlights. “Parents can make it a good weekly activity,” says city of Woodbury recreation specialist Elizabeth Owens. “They can bring a packed snack or lunch and walk to the park or visit the playground, too.”
