With Age Comes Grace

As I get older, contemplating the changes that seem to have somehow snuck up on my face and body, there is a twinge of lost youth. Being young is not truly a gift, but when you look back upon how boundless the world seemed then, it just seems like so many things were better at 21.

You thought someday you’d have all the answers spiritually. As we get older, we realize some of those things were not immersed in wisdom but very self-centered instead. Yet, why is it we long to be young again with naive illusions of perfection? Read more about With Age Comes Grace

The Existence of Will

Elders have a huge capacity in their hearts to listen to what we “younger” ones are going through and have a unique perspective: Just as there is a light in the darkness, there is darkness in the light.

One of Buddha’s teachings asays, “The mind is by nature radiant. It’s shining. It is because of visiting forces that we suffer.” These forces are what most call vices: greed, anger, lust and envy. They’re not inherently who we are, but they will visit. Read more about The Existence of Will

Treasuring Uniqueness

November is alzheimer's awareness month, and with a desire to create environment that caters to all, Dementia Partners Woodbury is a new initiative that brings light to those suffering from dementia within the community. As a two-fold project, the director of community relations with Artis Senior Living of Woodbury Ruth Hjelmgren and director of Woodbury Thrives Simi Patnaik collaborated to create an informative website and implement employee training in local businesses to provide more hospitable establishments.  Read more about Treasuring Uniqueness
