It’s no secret that Woodbury is expanding as new businesses continue to move in. Thanh Do is one of those new restaurants that recently set up shop in City Walk, on the east side of town. “There are not too many independent restaurants in Woodbury,” says Thanh Do manager Shawn McDonald. “There are a lot of chain restaurants, so it’s nice that we are a bit different being a family-owned restaurant.”
For those who know Thanh Do of St. Louis Park, you can expect the same great experience. “Not much was changed between the two locations,” McDonald says. “The only thing that’s different is that the dining room is slightly smaller. The food menu and bar program are the same.”
From the menu, McDonald recommends three dishes. First the pho, a rice noodle soup flavored with charred onions and a multitude of spices including ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. “It’s one of the best pho I’ve ever had,” McDonald says. Among the highly praised curries that Thanh Do serves, McDonald recommends both the Thai red curry and the Thai green curry. Also a favorite among the patrons and a great way to end, or start, a meal are the cranberry puffs. These sweet delights are similar to a cream cheese wonton and are made with cream cheese, red curry and cranberries, formulating a delicious blend of sweet and spicy.
