Since opening in June 2015, the splash pad at Bielenberg Sports Center (BSC) has been a popular outing for many local families. The splash pad, featuring two platforms of brightly colored dumping buckets, flower showers, nozzles and more, was built as part of the BSC expansion project, replacing an existing playground. Last June, the new Madison’s Place universal access playground opened adjacent to the splash pad.
“The response from the community to the splash pad has been fantastic,” says Bob Klatt, city of Woodbury park and recreation director. “The busiest times are midday on nice summer days. This is a great place for children of all abilities to play and interact together and burn off some energy before a nap.”
TIP: Be prepared to be active and come with a blanket to sit and rest in the mowed grass surrounding the facility. There are a lot of shady spots perfect for taking a break or enjoying a snack, but there is limited shade over the equipment, and sunscreen use is recommended.
