Settle down after the chaos of Black Friday shopping with a more low-key experience: take part in Small Business Saturday events at local shops on November 24.
Small Business Saturday allows consumers to honor and support “mom and pop” shops across the nation and all they do for their respective communities. (The “holiday” was coined in 2010 by credit card company American Express, to help small businesses get more exposure in a market increasingly dominated by giant retailers.)
So what’s going on locally? Mainstream Boutique of Woodbury will have their annual candy cane sale, where customers can pick a candy cane with a discount on it, owner Deb Terlizzi says.
At Nothing Bundt Cakes, if you buy two bundtlets (miniature bundt cakes) during regular business hours, the third is free. “My favorite part about Small Business Saturday is letting our customers know how much we appreciate and love to see them at Nothing Bundt Cakes,” owner Dawn Parker says.
