Woodbury Celebrates the New Year in a Family Friendly Fashion

Woodbury celebrates with a pre-midnight family tradition.
The Schill family is ready to celebrate 2014.

For 13 years, the city of Woodbury has hosted a family-friendly New Year’s Eve Bash at Bielenberg Sports Center, allowing party-goers to celebrate midnight a few hours early. “It provides a great, safe and friendly environment for our families to celebrate New Year’s,” event coordinator Elizabeth Owens says.

With Bielenberg Sports Center’s renovations, this year’s bash will be held at Valley Crossing Community School and the Colby Lake ice rink/warming house. Owens encourages families to register early for the event as it encompasses the excitement of past years, but on a smaller scale.

Kids will soar, climb and sweat in the event’s most popular attractions: a handful of inflatables and bouncy houses. There’s also bingo and a raffle while a DJ spins kid-friendly tunes. These attractions build up to the event’s finale, a countdown to 8 p.m. Owens says this celebratory cheer, although premature, is her favorite moment.
