The Woodbury Guild of Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) is hosting its second annual “Race for the Children” fundraiser. While the spring benefit itself has been taking place for 10 years, it was previously a fashion show geared toward women. “Last year we made the decision to open to a broader spectrum of audiences,” says CHA Woodbury Guild president Julia Esch. “It can still be tailored to a girls’ night out but also toward couples and groups of friends.”

The Kentucky Derby-style event will offer dinner, cash bar, games of chance, silent and live auctions and simulated horse races. “It’s a super fun event where you can come and, if you want, wear a hat and participate, but it’s not mandatory,” Esch says. “It’s a really nice dinner with a lot of fun entertainment.”

In years past, proceeds have gone to various hospital projects such as pet stimulation and music and art therapies. A number of hospital floors have also benefitted from CHA funds. “The proceeds go to so many different areas,” Esch says. “Every year the main board chooses a fund particularly in need.”
