An Awakening Woodbury

Gina Osowski snaps a gorgeous spring sunrise.

Sometimes, something beautiful can come from a mishap. Early morning during Memorial Day weekend, Gina Osowski was looking forward to a family picnic in Wisconsin. “I had made a potato salad (and was proud of this one, too!), set it on the couch while getting other things together for the picnic, and then it rolled off the couch and onto the floor,” she says. “So needless to say, I had to stop at the Cub deli to get potato salad.”

While leaving the Cub parking lot at Tamarack Village, Osowski noticed the beautiful sunrise. “I had to snap a picture of it,” she says. “And that’s the story behind this wonderful, peaceful photo of what is typically a very busy spot in Woodbury.

“I always carry a camera with me, am always taking pictures and do, throughout the year, always have the Focus on Woodbury Photo Contest in mind,” Osowski says. “I love taking nature pictures; the county and state parks have a lot of subject matter. I do tend to take a lot of pictures of downtown Rice Lake, Wis. and surrounding areas, where I grew up, as places tend to change over the years.”

This photo from Woodbury Magazine’s 2016 Focus on Woodbury Photo Contest was taken with a Fujifilm camera with a 12x optical zoom.
