The only plan Bob Wilber had in college was to play baseball 15 years in the big leagues and then go straight into broadcasting. Things did not go according to plan.
In his book, Bats, Balls & Burnouts: A Life of Sports, Marketing and Mayhem, Wilber discusses his life journey from playing in the minor leagues, to running soccer franchises, to writing as a PR agent for the three top funny car drivers in drag racing, to becoming an author. “I taught myself how to write a book on the fly,” Wilber says. “I’m really proud of it. I’m proud of what I did. I’m proud of what people think about it.”
