Clean Out for a Cause

Spring cleaning is around the corner with Woodbury’s upcoming city-wide garage sale.

Woodbury residents are about to get the fresh feel of spring cleaning when digging out their gently used items for this year’s 44th annual city-wide Lions Garage Sale on the weekend of May 13.

“People store up their stuff for a year and their house is bursting at the seams, and it’s time to do that spring clean out,” says Mathias Baden, Woodbury Lions president.

There is a $35 fee for sellers to register with Lions for the garage sale, which includes a house listing on the official garage sale print and e-directories  and a Lions Garage Sale sign for the front yard.

All proceeds go to Woodbury Lions Club causes, with their five focus areas begin hunger relief, vision and eye care, childhood cancer, diabetes and the environment.

Due to COVID-19, the Woodbury Lions had to move the 2020 annual sale to the fall, which corralled over 300 resident sellers. Their  usual fall sales would never have hit those numbers since people prefer to participate in the spring. Baden believes the numbers were due to COVID.

“People wanted to get out. There was a little bit of cabin fever there …  [This is] one of the mostly outdoor-friendly activities you could do,” says Baden.
