Bubble Wonders Show

Nothing’s better than those big, beautiful, rainbow-catching spheres of wonder: bubbles. “Bubbleologist” Geoff Akins goes beyond the classic shape, creating fantastical phenomenons like a bubble volcano, bubble merry-go-round and even a dancing bubble. Pippi Longstocking

You’d recognize the crazy, horizontal, red-haired braids anywhere, but how much do you really know about Pippi? No matter what your relationship with this goofy girl is, the Merrill Community Arts Center is glad to make the introduction, solidify the friendship or welcome the reunion. The Black Box Theatre invites actors to engage the audience in a unique way. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the door. $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students. Into the Woods

“Quality theater” and “Stephen Sondheim” are practically synonyms, and East Ridge High School plans to tackle one of his most famous works, Into the Woods. In order to put their spin on the classic story, cast and crew will create a “steampunk”, industrialized set that brings the contrast between romanticism and industrialization to the forefront of the play. $10 adults, $8 students and seniors. More Free eBooks @ Your Library

Thanks to a new partnership between the Metropolitan Library Services Agency  (MELSA) and 3M Library Systems, users of the 100 metro public libraries in the seven-country metro now have free and fast access to thousands of additional eBooks.

To celebrate there will be a demonstration open to the public at the George Latimer Central Library in downtown St. Paul at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 4 and pop-up stands providing more information at Park and Rides and Farmers’ Markets. Read more about More Free eBooks @ Your Library

13th Annual Washington County Bluegrass Festival

Visit the Lake Elmo Park Reserve, a 2,200-acre parkland, for an afternoon of free summer music. This year marks the 13th annual bluegrass festival, a gathering of local musicians in an idyllic outdoor setting. The musical lineup includes Blue Hazard, Barley Jacks with Brian Wicklund and Monroe Crossing.
