Focus on Woodbury: Snow Globe

A mother captures the beauty and joy of winter with a special photo of her daughter.
This photo from Woodbury Magazine’s 2017 Focus on Woodbury Photo Contest was taken with a Canon 6D camera with a 50 mm lens.

Mackenzie Harding is a busy stay-at-home mom with four children who also has a photography business. “I’ve been taking photos for fun for about eight years and started my business almost three years ago,” she says. “I love capturing children and families, and seeing sibling and parent/child relationships through photography. I know firsthand that parenting is hard, so I try to freeze those good moments to get us through.”

This photo of Harding’s daughter, Madeleine, was taken last January on the field near Lake Middle and Middleton Elementary schools. “We were out sledding, and kids can’t help but play in and throw fresh snow,” Harding says. “Snow does amazing things to sunlight; the picture was taken around 11 a.m. with bright, full sun.”

Harding describes herself as a lifestyle photographer who loves “capturing people doing everyday things using natural light.” For more information on her business, Mackenzie Merrill Photography, go to mackenziemerrill.com.
