Post-Game Pizza Party

Red’s Savoy Pizza opened recently in town to serve high school athletes and the local community.

Growing up on the east side of St. Paul, Mike Tuckner always considered Red’s Savoy Pizza to be the best pizza. After quitting his job and opening a sports photography business, Tuckner decided to bring his favorite pizza joint, combined with his love of sports photography, to his current hometown: Woodbury.

Tuckner first started off in photography by taking photos of his son at sports games from the sidelines. Eventually, Tuckner upgraded to professional equipment, developed his skill set and purchased a franchise for his own sports photo business, TSS Photography (tsswoodbury.com).

Tuckner hopes to bring his connections from his photography business to the new Red’s Savoy Pizza, which opened in August and features many of Tuckner’s sports photos of athletes from Woodbury, East Ridge, Park and Tartan High Schools. Tuckner plans to host a contest to feature an athlete from each school who demonstrates excellent athletics, good citizenship and strong academics. “The big thing is, we want to be the local pizza place,” Tuckner says. “We want to be involved in the community with fundraisers and sports games.”
