East Ridge High School
What has been your favorite class and/or teacher?
I love my Project Lead The Way (PLTW) classes: principles of engineering, and medical intervention. I’m grateful those unique courses are available at my school, and honestly, it’s a big reason I chose East Ridge. And definitely Ms. Harberts. She welcomes questions and explains problems well. She has a great attitude—especially for an early morning class—and she inspires me to work hard and keep pursuing STEM.
What hobbies and extracurriculars have you been a part of?
I’m in Medical Club and I play lacrosse—both are great ways to spend time with friends while getting better at something. I also started a small business where I use computer-aided design and create items I’ve designed using a 3D printer. I’m working on designing shin guards that are lightweight and protective, but breathable and flexible.
Favorite book?
When I was younger, it was Hatchet. I loved the adventure, suspense and the wilderness. But now I’m more into nonfiction, and I’d probably say Unbroken, the story of Louie Zamperini in World War II.
Favorite music?
Honestly? J. Cole or Drake.
Signature outfit?
I always wear hoodies. I have a ton of them with city and college names on them. My favorite is probably Dartmouth.
Beverage you couldn’t live without?
Vanilla-peach Sprite. I made a groundbreaking discovery at a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine one day. It’s amazing.
What words of wisdom would you share with younger students?
Push yourself in school and begin to show a passion in something. But academics are only part of what makes you unique. So be sure to spend time with friends, doing things you love outside of school.
What’s next for you?
A four-year university, majoring in something STEM-related. I’d love to run my own engineering company someday.
What’s your favorite spot in Woodbury?
Hanging out in my neighborhood, Bailey’s Arbor, or kayaking on Powers Lake.
