Following his retirement from customer service with Delta/Northwest Airlines, Steve Kobayashi has more time to spend walking the family pet, 12-year-old golden retriever Maddie. In the winter, the pair often head to nearby Eagle Valley Golf Course.
“It was a sunny winter day, so I decided to take my camera with me on our morning walk,” Kobayashi says as he describes the snow-covered scene. “We walk year-round. Maddie actually prefers summer walks, and so do I.”
Kobayashi has been taking photos for more than 40 years. “My father was a photographer in Milwaukee, and I would help him out in the studio; that’s how I became interested in photography,” Kobayashi says. “My new favorite subject is my granddaughter, Mia. She is the cutest granddaughter in town.”
