Hugo Rouvinen may reside in the land of hockey, but for the East Ridge High School junior, floorball is life. And if Rouvinen gets his way, others will soon see his point of view as he works to grow the sport in the U.S. and, hopefully, start a professional team in Minnesota.

Thirty years ago, Woodbury had a Standard gas station, a PDQ and a pizza restaurant called Ronnally’s. The only stoplights flashed at Valley Creek Road and the overpass above Interstate 494. Now our once-rural suburb is all grown up and branding itself as a medical specialty hub.

The Partners in Praise Girls Choir is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month with PIPFest 2014, a youth choral festival featuring 11 choirs from the Twin Cities, Rochester and Appleton, Wis.

Last fall, a new fishing pier was built at Colby Lake in Edgewater Park at the south end of the lake. The project was the result of a joint effort between the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the city of Woodbury and the South Washington Watershed District (SWWD).

Upon her return from the Dominican Republic in 2013, Gloria WahrenBrock was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia, also known as Legionnaires’ disease. Miserable and dissatisfied with conventional treatments, WahrenBrock decided to try The Salt Room near Orlando.

For most moms, parenthood is a joy, but it can often involves late nights, early mornings, cramped schedules and little free time. As a result, time spent with friends or on self-improvement is a precious commodity.

How did Anthony Velte capture this cool view of Woodbury? “I enjoy building and flying remote-controlled aircraft, so I stopped at the Lake Road and Manning Avenue water tower to fly a quadcopter while shooting video and taking aerial photographs,” Velte says.

Springtime has us daydreaming about baseball. The smell of freshly cut grass, the peaceful symmetry of the diamond, the satisfying thwack of the bat—there’s something particularly beautiful about America’s favorite pastime.
